Sorry for the delay while I have had a lot of free time I have neglected the blog. The picture is of an incense tray in old Havana I thought it was pretty funny so I snapped a picture. THe games have been going well we lost the first one by eight but beat them handily in the second game... first win of the summer!!! I played okay in the first game just missed some shots I should make but played pretty well in the second one. We have been eating the same meal for the last week so I am really really excited to eat some salad and veggies.
Last game is tonight then fly out tomorrow morning 5 hour layover in TO then off to Hartford... I can't wait. My bags are already packed... a week's worth of nasty hand washed practice gear!!

CUBA!

Arrived in Cuba yesterday had a practice it is hot here! I wrung out my socks after and formed a small pool, my shoes would squish as I ran up and down the court. The floor makes me realize how spoiled we are in North America, a teammate said to picture a deck with rotted chunks that they have tried to fix using some tape tomorrow I will take some pics and post them on the Canada ball blog so check it out.
We walked around Old Havana today it was a little too much walking the day before a game but cool to see. Our interpreter was really sweet and translated all this info and became our tour guide for the afternoon. The stuff here is really expensive they can rip you off I guess.
Game tomorrow against Cuba should be a good test to see where we are at!
here are some pics from Cuba

Training camp is over!! I played pretty poorly in our games against Clemson shots were not falling and more importantly not feeling good, I am happy to say that I got the shot back on track the last few days in practice and against the boys it felt like I couldn't miss again! It was so nice to train at home I wish every training camp could be here I went home tonight did laundry, baked granola bars, hung out with the sisters, ate mom's home made soup and watched a cheesy movie with Megs. I love it! It was a great way to spend the last evening in BC (although I did miss you mom and dad). I am off to Cuba tomorrow I packed plenty of protein bars and granola bars in hopes of not losing any weight on this trip we will see how I make out.

Two blogs is a lot for me so while I am away I will try to update both but the canadaball.blogspot.com takes priority so check there first!!

Game tonight at the Langley Events center 5pm!!

Tweaked my groin a little two days ago I was really proud of myself though I pulled out before I pulled it bad. We were even scrimmaging and I subbed myself out. I didn't get to practice the last day and a half but I am hoping all will feel well for today!
Our team went out to White Rock yesterday for a little get a way it turned out to be a nice day which was great we didn't spend too much time walking around however as most of us are a little tired. Went out for dinner at a cute tapa's place and then back to the dorms.

Training camp is underway my body is feeling a little beat up. I wish we could just skip ahead to the fourth day of training camp when your body is used the hits and you feel more rested. Camp has been good my ankle is still quite sore but I have been doing my exercises nightly and hoping it continues to improve. Basketball wise we have had good days and bad days we are improving looking better each practice.
Yesterday afternoon we didn't have practice it was magnificent went up to Cascade Falls and sat in the cold water for a good hour and a half, my legs felt refreshed. Dad BBQd a great dinner and then it was back to the dorms after watching a little tv with the folks. Thankfully the temperature in Abby has cooled considerably seeing as though the dorm rooms are not air conditioned, thank goodness for fans!

I am also running a blog for our Canada basketball team trying to update it daily so sorry if I don't update here as often but you can follow me and the rest of our team at

Check it out and tell all your friends... ohh and if anybody wants to sponsor us that would be awesome!!

Last day of freedom before training camp begins again! I have been really busy the last two weeks, Ben has been in town and on Friday night Jen my teammate from Belgium came out to visit for a few days.
Saturday morning we headed out for a hike in Mission, it is a pretty hard one kind of goes straight up so your muscles are burning and you are sweating when you get to the top. Ben will most likely never come on a hike again with me... he didn't really enjoy it at all wanted something to do at the top! Grandma and Grandpa came over with a fresh salmon to eat that night it was magnificent.
We are in the middle of a heat wave here in Mission and with no AC at the house the objective was to spend as little time here as possible so we had lunch up at Cascade falls, tried to catch some tiny fish and swam around a little to cool off.
Upon Ben's request we watched Transformers and Jen and I actually liked it so we had to go and see the second one in the movie and they really did surprise me I will never look at semi trucks the same way again.
Jen left Wednesday morning and Ben mom and dad and I headed down to Seattle to catch the Mariners vs Blue Jays game. It was an afternoon game and we maybe had some of the best seats available. We were covered and in the shade the whole game which was necessary seeing as though they announced it as the hottest game in Mariners history. The heat wave has been breaking some record temperatures.
Ben had to leave Friday morning really early, the worst part about this lifestyle is that we can't always hang out.
Here are some pics of it all.....

Ben got into town yesterday afternoon, I made it to the airport with only one wrong turn I was pretty excited. The last week has been uneventful mostly spent at the leisure center or over at the high school. The weather has been so gorgeous we took advantage and went on a little hike out in Dewdney it was straight up so really worked on the calves! There were picnic tables and a cabin up top it was really beautiful although we cut our time short as the mosquitoes were out in full force so we had to keep moving. Enjoying the great weather and taking full advantage of our time off!!
