The whole month of December went by so quickly. I can't believe it is already January. I had a great time at home I absolutely love having the grandparents over for Christmas Eve and Christmas morning.
I left BC on the morning of the 28th my amazing father and sister woke up at 420am to drive me to Vancouver. The day was going along well until I landed in TO and waited in a 2.5 hour border line up. I was not in a good mood mostly because I had not eaten and I was tired that is not a good combo for me. By the time I cleared customs I had 5 minutes before my plane started to board. I tried to hustle through security which went fairly quickly only a quick interview asking me why I had a carry on bag (I had to leave my nice roller at home, security is tight flying into America right now). Once I got through that I felt good about my chances of making my flight but then I was stopped again (I fly on a propeller jet to Hartford so you take a eight minute bus ride to a small terminal). At this stop you were completely padded down everywhere... by the time I boarded the bus my flight was supposed to be leaving. Thankfully I arrived and they were just starting pre boarding so I was quite thankful I made it. I would have loved to eat a little food but there was no time for that which in hindsight is a great thing because I faced some of the worst turbulence I have ever had in the last 30 minutes of the flight. I am thinking it was a good thing my stomach was empty.

CT has been good I got to go pond skating outside for the first time in my life. It was so much fun so crazy how you can see to the bottom with black ice, kind of crazy. Enjoy the beautiful pics!!!!

Things have been quite busy as son as we landed in BC. The first day back was moving day... my parents have a lot of stuff! My forearms were sore for 3 days after, some of the couches had to be carried outside to the backyard and then in through back doors. Ben went off to Baker the day after moving day to ski... I stayed at home to bake some cookies. I feel like if I stay in the kitchen I can avoid unpacking my boxes... the rubbermaids are stacked up in the hallway. They are a little overwhelming.
I did make it out to night skiing Friday night. It was a lot of fun, we went up to Grouse, the mountain I first skied on. My friends Leanne and Jess came with us so Ben had a possy for girls to ski with!

Saturday night we checked out the Chilliwack Bruins a Junior A hockey team. It was a good game, entertaining and great seats!

Sunday grandma and grandpa came over for a quick lunch visit it was great to see them. The visit was cut short as snow was beginning to come down.
Sunday night we went out to get a Christmas tree it took a lot of searching but we managed to find the perfect tree.

Ben is taking off tomorrow morning, weather depending. The week went by way too fast!

The first picture is Ben trying on the infamous "Canadian tuxedo". He makes fun of them quite a bit and couldn't resist the urge to try one on at the store today!

I survived the football game last night. The snow was coming down pretty good at a few different points in the game, thankfully Ben had me fully prepared for the weather. I had some long johns, pants and to top it off snow pants! Making the outfit even classier would be the old bball shoes of Ben's that I rocked. It was a slushy affair and I didn't want to ruin the uggs they are not that waterproof. It was a great game as well Uconn marched down the field down 1 with 40 seconds left and hit a game winning field goal. As a senior a pretty good way to finish off your senior year.

Packed up all the belongings today and heading out tomorrow morning BC bound!!

Christmas is in full swing here... the Christmas cookies are all done and in the freezer ready to be eaten! My workouts have been picking up a little bit and the ankle has been holding up. My physio tells me I am making good progress, hopefully I can continue making progress with the exercises he gave me to do.
Last week Ben and I helped out his grandfather with a Rotary charity event. It was pretty fun we were all assigned a kid and took them to wal mart to spend 100 on warm clothing. It was fun shopping with them and helping out!

We leave Monday for BC, the weekend will go by quickly. We are heading to a Uconn football game tonight... the last game of the season. It will be at 8pm, I am a little worried that I will freeze. I am already planning on at least 3 layers on the bottom and thinking 4 or 5 on top. Going for the snow man look.

Sunday some of Ben's family members are coming over and then we will be packing.

Can't wait to get back home and see the family and the new house!

Happy American Thanksgiving! I really like American thanksgiving because I feel like it marks the start of Christmas for me! I can officially start listening to music and getting in the spirit.

I saw a new physio out here in CT about my ankle and he was the first person who told me I can play without pain! Obviously I love him. He is an osteopath and examined me for about 45 minutes and told me what he found wrong with my body and then asked me to state why I came in. I am hoping he will be able to "fix" my problems and I can finally move forward.

Gearing up for American Thanksgiving this week. I have made a few breads and believe apple pie is next up on the list!

I am getting pretty excited to get home and see the new house/ help out the family a little, 2 weeks from today. It sounds as though there will be lots to do which means we will not be bored on our visit!
I played pick up for the first time today since returning from Brazil it was a lot of fun to play again. Way better than just shooting by yourself. The ankle feels pretty good so perhaps all the exercises I am doing are helping it "heal". I am going to see a physio in the area tomorrow and see if he has anything new to say about my ankle.

I am including a picture of Ben's bruise... the pictures do not do it justice. He may have beaten me at the worst bruise he took two pucks in the leg... in the same game!

The draw will be released tomorrow for next summers worlds will be interesting to see who we will play and what town we will be in! Check out the CB blog for the release.

I watched Food Inc. last night. I don't think I will ever look at the grocery store the same way! I recommend it to everyone, especially my family, you need to watch it! I feel like I am leaning more towards the "hippie" style of life everyday. Went grocery shopping at the local food co-op today supporting the local farmers! This movie made me want to grow my own chickens to eat... or find a farm to buy them off. Our food system in North America is pretty disturbing, hopefully it can change one day! The first step is awarness so go rent the movie it is a new release.
